In the first three days of the Chittagong Test, India somehow made it their own. The last two days were just formalities. After fighting for a while on the fourth day, Bangladesh was all out for 324 runs at the beginning of the fifth day. The Tigers lost the match by 188 runs.
After a major batting disaster in the first innings, the record runs against India came from the opening pair of the second innings. But despite the great resistance of the openers, Bangladesh had to lose by a big margin.
The loss was a matter of time. But there was some hope among the Bangladesh fans due to the presence of Miraj and Shakib at the crease. But in the end, these two batters could not. At the beginning of the fifth day, Mohammad Siraj broke the partnership of 45 runs with Shakib by picking up Miraj.
After seeing the fear of loss, Shakib started batting easily in the T20. After scoring 84 runs with 6 sixes and 6 fours, Shakib returned to the pavilion after being bowled by Kuldeep.
After that Bangladesh lost the remaining two wickets within four runs and confirmed the defeat in the first test. With this loss, the hosts trailed 1-0 in the two-match Test series.
Meanwhile, in response to India’s first innings of 404 runs, Bangladesh was all out for just 150 runs in their first innings. In the second innings, the target was 513 as the innings was declared with 258 runs.
The Tigers had to set a world record to achieve such a feat. Zakir and Shanto were starting well. Shanta stunned everyone by scoring a century in his Test debut. But he was dismissed by Ashwin for a century. After that, no one except Shakib could pull the team.
In the end, Bangladesh suffered a big loss of 188 runs in the first test. Meanwhile, Kuldeep got the man of the match award for getting 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings. The second Test of the series will start on December 22 in Mirpur.
